Memories Of Life, Faith, Family and Love

Memories Of Life, Faith, Family and Love

$12.00

This cd is fresh out of the studio and is available for purchase .I'M GONNA LEAVE HERE SHOUTING is an up-beat tune written and originally recorded by the late great Ms.Dottie Rambo. Mickey Cates wrote the picturesque BAPTISM. Randy Travis recorded this tune slated to release on country radio under the title, "Down With the Old Man," but sadly, that didn't happen. I wrote TAKE THIS NATION BACK in light of the events taking place all around us. Remember after the 9-11 terrorist attacks how the churches were filled with people searching fearfully for an answer? This nation is slowly turning away from God and until we go back to the Bible, back to the altars and get down on our knees and pray, things are not going to get any better! THE LIVING GOD flowed so clearly from God onto the paper it was as if God was saying "It doesn't get any simpler than this!" We're born, we grow older, we're old, we die and then go to Heaven "IF" ( such a small word but such a big meaning ) "IF" we know the living God. The second verse in this song talks about when I was a young boy and we lost our Papa, our paternal great grandfather. I still miss him but I know one day we will meet again. THEY'VE GOT LOVE is a true story. I wrote this song in honor of our parents, William and Angilea Tew. Both of them being raised by their grandparents threw them back a generation. Therefore, we grew up experiencing things (like hog killings) that many of the other children our age never experienced. MAMA'S ARMS one of my first original compositions was inspired by a comment made by Neil White, the bassist for the band "Sugarstill". After arriving home from a show at about 1 or 2 am, our son Andrew came running into the living room and jumped into his mama's lap. As she wrapped her arms around him Neil said, "That's the safest place in the whole world right there, in his mama's arms". THE MEMORY OF THE TRAIN came to me while riding through the small town of Calypso NC. Many small towns have become ghost towns since the disappearing of the railroad. Big oil and big business, has literally "ran off" the mom and pop country stores that used to be in almost every small town you went through.
WHO AM I is an all time favorite gospel song of mine. In the late 60's, The Happy Goodman's were part of a lineup that would perform at the Sampson Middle School Auditorium in Clinton NC. They were one of my favorite groups. The Happy Goodman Family that most everyone knew back then consisted of Howard, Vestal, and Howard's two brothers Rusty and Sam. In 1990, Rusty was diagnosed with cancer. This prompted the recording of the last Happy Goodman Family record, titled The Reunion. Although they initially planned to tour in support of the project, Rusty's health deteriorated rapidly. He died in November 1990. Sam followed his brother in death the next year. "The Reunion" was regarded as their best album ever. WHEN WE ALL GET TO HEAVEN a very familiar hymn written by Eliza E. Hewitt, music by Emily D. Wilson. Recorded by numerous artists from Alan Jackson and Brad Paisley to Clara Ward this song has been a standard in churches all across America for many years. WHAT WILL I LEAVE BEHIND is a song that stands out in my memory. I grew up going to Bethany Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church in Clinton NC. Mama played the piano, daddy sang tenor, Elsie Carter sang soprano,Marvin Williamson sang bass and Mary Lou Jones sang alto. They were known as the Bethany Quartet. Every time they sang this song many people in the church would be wiping tears. As time went by, and people went different ways the quartet ceased to be. Mama and daddy still sing together from time to time and I am thrilled that they were able to sing a verse on this recording of the song. My sister Danette, and my brothers Joseph and Timothy are also featured on this cd project as harmony vocalists on tracks 2, 8, 9 and 10. I hope you are blessed by something that you read or hear on this web-site. I thank God for the memories that I have of Life, Faith, Family and Love.

On The Winning Side

On The Winning Side

$5.00

This was my first cd project titled after a song I wrote "On The Winning Side". This song placed 2nd in the gospel category in the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at Merlefest 2008 and then it placed 1st in the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at Merlefest 2010. Happy Day A'comin and Little Country Church are also Original songs. Little Country Church was inspired by Bethany P.F.W.B. Church in Clinton NC where I attended church as a boy. The other songs are favorites of mine and I especially enjoy singing "How Great Thou Art" one of the most powerful songs ever written.
